Crude oil futures opened lower Wednesday in daytime trading on the Shanghai International Energy Exchange.
The most active crude oil contract for April delivery was down 0.1 yuan (about 1 U.S. cent) to open at 398.1 yuan a barrel.
China launched the crude oil futures trading, which is open to overseas investors, in March 2018.
