Shanghai crude oil futures open lower

Crude oil futures opened lower Wednesday in daytime trading on the Shanghai International Energy Exchange.

The most active crude oil contract for May delivery was down 20.6 yuan (about 3 U.S. dollars) to open at 287 yuan a barrel.

China launched the crude oil futures trading, which is open to overseas investors, in March 2018.
