Crude oil futures opened lower Thursday in daytime trading on the Shanghai International Energy Exchange.
The most active crude oil contract for May delivery was down 18.1 yuan (about 2.57 U.S. dollars) to open at 220.2 yuan a barrel.
China launched the crude oil futures trading, which is open to overseas investors, in March 2018.
