Crude oil futures opened higher Thursday in daytime trading on the Shanghai International Energy Exchange.
The most active crude oil contract for June delivery was up 18.3 yuan (about 2.59 U.S. dollars) to open at 240 yuan a barrel.
China launched the crude oil futures trading, which is open to overseas investors, in March 2018.
