Crude oil futures opened higher Thursday in daytime trading on the Shanghai International Energy Exchange.
The most active crude oil contract for July delivery was up 8.5 yuan (about 1.2 U.S. dollars) to open at 276.4 yuan a barrel.
China launched the crude oil futures trading, which is open to overseas investors, in March 2018.
