China's new energy development path in the new era is very inspiring to other countries, with its historic achievements in energy development setting examples for developing countries, according to diplomats at an online event introducing them to a recent white paper, "Energy in China's New Era", via video links.

Released by the State Council Information Office last December, the white paper aims to provide a full picture of the country's achievements in energy development and major policies and measures for energy reform.

Zhang Jianhua, head of the National Energy Administration, introduced the main content of the white paper and China's energy development and international cooperation policies to the diplomats at the online event held Friday. The diplomats included ambassadors to China from countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Croatia, Finland, France, Greece, Laos, Pakistan, Russia, Turkmenistan and the United Arab Emirates.

The white paper aims to improve the international community's understanding on China's energy policies and development, its hard work in promoting the green and low-carbon transition of energy, and its positive contributions in coping with global climate change and promoting sustainable energy development, according to Zhang.

The diplomats said they are very confident in the green and low-carbon transition of China's energy mix and its sustainable development.

They had in-depth exchanges with Chinese officials on issues such as China's coal consumption, energy accessibility, biofuels, green energy transition, district heating and cooling, power interconnection, and energy cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.

They also expressed their willingness to further strengthen energy cooperation with China, to jointly deal with global climate change, and promote the sustainable development of energy in the world.
