China Energy Investment Corporation, a leading energy enterprise in China, saw its power generation and coal output and sales post fast expansion in the first quarter of the year.
The company's power generation surged 25 percent year on year to 260.2 billion kilowatt-hours in the first three months, hitting a record high for the period, said Zhang Yuxin, spokesperson of the company.
Its coal output reached 141 million tonnes, up 5.9 percent year on year, while its coal sales climbed 15.9 percent from the same period last year to 196 million tonnes, Zhang said.
During the period, the company also accelerated the construction of new energy projects amid China's efforts of reducing carbon emissions. Its investment in new energy projects soared 34.2 percent year on year to 10.68 billion yuan (about 1.63 billion U.S. dollars).
