Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday met with Namibian President Nangolo Mbumba, who is in Beijing for the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
Xi spoke highly of Mbumba's active contribution to the success of the summit.
China is willing to work with Namibia and other African countries to fully implement the outcomes of the summit, promote common development and prosperity, and jointly build a high-level China-Africa community with a shared future, he said.
Xi stressed that China stands ready to strengthen the exchange of experience in party and state governance with Namibia, share development opportunities, and work together to promote the respective modernization process.
The two sides should strengthen the synergy of development strategies and create new cooperation highlights in areas such as agriculture, clean energy, infrastructure, energy, mineral resources, and science and technology, Xi said.
China encourages Chinese enterprises to invest in Namibia, and hopes that Namibia will continue to provide convenience and support, he added.
China supports Namibia in its work as a co-facilitator of the UN Summit of the Future, and stands ready to strengthen multilateral strategic coordination with Namibia, Xi said.
A series of new measures announced by President Xi on Thursday to promote modernization of Africa and China will guide the two sides to create a bright future of common development and prosperity, Mbumba said, adding that Namibia will fully implement the outcomes of the summit, and maintain close exchanges with China.
During the summit, the two countries signed bilateral cooperation documents in the fields including the export of Namibia's lamb to China, as well as development cooperation.
