In order to accelerate construction work on a heat source project, a new gas-fired thermal power plant will be built this year in the southeast of Taiyuan, Shanxi province.
The project aims to improve the heating capacity of the area to 10 million square meters.
Three projects for changing coal into gas based on unified deployment were completed last year, leading to an increase of the heating capacity to 5.82 million square meters. At the same time, the total expanded area with central heating has reached 21.33 million square meters, while 264 kilometers of the heating pipe network were also renovated.
In addition, the city has successfully applied to be a pilot city for cleaning and heating in northern China, putting a central government subsidy of 2.3 billion yuan ($365.93 million) into use.
Full coverage of cleaning and heating will be further advanced this year, focusing mainly on the development of a heat source and the renovation of old pipes.
Currently, gas-fired power plants are trying to focus on providing heat in their bypass systems, to guarantee heating in winter.
Meanwhile, a batch of construction projects for municipal public facilities will be conducted to improve the coverage of urban public water supply, such as urban water supply projects and renovation of feed pipes.
