The China-Myanmar crude oil pipeline has carried a total of 8.9 million tonnes of crude oil into China after one year of operation, according to its operator in southwest China's Yunnan Province.

Meanwhile, China has imported more than 18 billion cubic meters of natural gas through a second pipeline linking the two countries since 2013, the Dehong branch of PetroChina Southwest Pipeline Company said Friday.

According to customs of the provincial capital Kunming, the value of oil and gas imported from the pipelines accounted for 23.4 percent of Yunnan's total imports in 2017.

Crude oil started entering China via the 1,420-km China-Myanmar crude oil pipeline last June and the China-Myanmar natural gas pipeline was put into operation in July 2013.

The China-Myanmar oil and gas pipeline project is a state-operated collaboration between China, Myanmar, and international commercial partners which was built to help ensure the energy security of the world's second-largest economy.
