A Shanxi delegation and more than 1,000 local dealers and companies visited Shanghai for the six-day China International Import Expo (CIIE) which opened Nov 5, carrying out procurement activities and introducing products and technologies to better satisfy the consumption needs of residents in Shanxi and help upgrade the province's industrial sector.
Purchasers from Shanxi province include major import enterprises, universities, large hospitals, scientific research institutions and e-commerce companies.
Cities in the province such as Taiyuan, Datong, Jinzhong and Changzhi, are holding related business activities at the expo to attract people and increase economic and trade cooperation with foreign businesspeople and companies in the Yangtze River Delta region.
Taking advantage of the expo, provincial State-owned enterprises (SOEs) in Shanxi will hold an import procurement and project matching event at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) to introduce new technologies, products and projects to SOEs in the province.
A promotion meeting focusing on key industries related to manufacturing will also be organized to provide an introduction to Shanxi for multinational companies. The 100 investment projects to be promoted cover advanced equipment manufacturing, energy conservation and environmental protection, biomedicine, modern services and new energy vehicles.
The first China International Import Expo under the theme of "New Era, Shared Future" has attracted 172 countries, regions and international organizations. More than 3,600 companies are participating in the exhibition, which covers 30 hectares, and over 400,000 purchasers are negotiating and dealing with each other at the expo.
Shanxi provincial government signed a memorandum of understanding with the O'Higgins Region in Chile before the opening of the expo for deepening partnerships in culture, energy, agriculture and health.
