[Basic Information]
The Energy Research Institute (hereafter, ERI) of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) of China is one of an organization affiliated with NDRC and simultaneously is one of its component institutes of the Academy of Macroeconomic Research (AMR) of NDRC.
[Background]
ERI is the national research organization conducting comprehensive studies on
China’s energy economic issues closely related with social and economic
development such as national macro energy economy and regional energy economy,
energy industry development, energy technology strategies, energy supply and
demand projection, energy security, energy and environment, energy conservation
and energy efficiency improvement, renewable energy and alternative energy
development.
[Structure]
According to research orientation and task distribution, ERI consists of 5
professional research centers, the CDM Project Administration Center and the
Research Management and International Collaboration Division. Currently, there
are more than 80 research staff including 44 senior researchers. Additionally,
ERI is responsible for editing and publishing “Energy of China”, the China
unique comprehensive energy magazine and owns Beijing Jike Energy New
Technology Development Company. And also the Energy Conservation Information
Dissemination Center of NDRC is administrated by ERI.
[Fields]
Based on years of efforts in the fields, ERI provides theoretical reference and
policy suggestions for China government to formulate energy development
strategy, energy development planning, energy laws and regulations and energy
technology standards as well as plays as a competitive service provider on
international cooperation and energy consultation for relevant national and
international clients including different entities, academic organizations,
enterprises, etc.
ERI has many the long-term international cooperation partners such as multilateral organizations, the International Energy Agency (IEA), the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the World Band (WB), the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Global Energy Facility (GEF), etc., other national energy counterparts in US, EU countries, Japan, Republic of Korea, Russia, India, etc. and the international NGOs, the US Energy Foundation (EF), the Shell Foundation, etc.
