China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group (CECEP) was founded in 2010 after the merger between China Energy Conservation Investment Corporation (CECIC) and China New Era Group Corporation (CNEGC), with the approval of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC).
CECEP is a centrally-administered state-owned enterprise specializing in energy efficiency and environmental protection, and its predecessor was the Energy Conservation Bureau of the former State Planning Commission of China. Under its umbrella, core companies such as China National Environmental Protection Group, CNEGC and China Geo-Engineering Corporation were established in the 1980s, and many mainstay companies including China Qiyuan Engineering Corporation (Seventh Design & Research Institute of the former Ministry of Machinery Industry), CECEP Construction Engineering Design Institute Limited Company, No.4 Metallurgical Construction Company of China Limited and Lanzhou Engineering & Research Institute of Nonferrous Metallurgy Co., Ltd. date from the early 1950s. Over the decades, all these subsidiaries have enthusiastically participated in national economic construction and international market competition, playing an important role in Chinese sectors related to energy conservation and environmental health and making significant contributions to the development of China’s energy and environment industry.
Over the years, CECEP has established a business structure that primarily involves energy conservation, environmental protection, clean energy and health industry while providing full industrial chain services and solutions related to energy and environment, including design consulting, engineering construction, technological R&D, equipment manufacturing as well as project investment, construction, operation and management. It has emerged as a flagship enterprise in China’s energy and environment industry and an industry leader in the fields of solid waste treatment, water pollution prevention and control, air pollution prevention and control, soil remediation, clean energy development and utilization, health industry, industrial energy saving, architectural energy saving, and environmentally-friendly new materials. With a staff of nearly 50,000 employees and more than 500 subsidiaries, including 28 second-tier companies and five listed companies, its business has expanded across China and beyond, radiating to 107 countries and regions around the world.
Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), especially after the 19th CPC National Congress, CECEP has been carefully studying and implementing Xi Jinping’s thought on ecological civilization and the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress to better fulfill its mission of promoting green development. It has set the goal of building a world-class conglomerate for energy conservation and environmental health and formulated development strategies. Through unremitting efforts to promote its pillar sectors including energy efficiency, environmentally-friendly business, health industry, clean energy, green development and comprehensive services, CECEP’s overall strength has grown remarkably. On May 27, 2018, CECEP officially became a major pollution-control platform involved in the “Greater Protection of the Yangtze River” project, taking on the historical responsibility of pollution prevention and control along the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
Looking into the future, CECEP will continue to remain true to our original aspiration and keep our mission firmly in mind. After more than three decades of development, CECEP has established a “4+1” business structure featuring energy conservation, environmental protection, health and clean energy as main business segments supported by integrated services from planning & consulting, R&D design and investment development to equipment manufacturing, engineering construction and operational management. As China’s only company capable of providing comprehensive environmental treatment services for a region or a city, CECEP has expanded its operations to cover all provincial-level regions of China as well as 107 countries and regions around the world.
