As a wholly owned subsidiary of State Grid Corporation of China, State Grid Energy Research Institute is a R&D institution and think tank devoted to research on soft science and consultation of major decision-making. In August, 2009, State Grid Corporation approved State Power Economic Research Institute to implement business separation and set up State Grid Energy Research Institute based mainly on soft science. State Grid Energy Research Institute is mainly engaged in decision-making consultation, covering strategic planning in energy and power industry, power system reform, corporate strategies and operations management, etc.
