Hunaneng Clean Energy Research Institute (CERI) is a clean energy R&D institution directly under China Huaneng Group (CHNG). CERI mainly engaged in technology research, development, transfer, service and project implement of advanced power generation, clean coal-based power generation and conversion, renewable energy power generation, and greenhouse gas emission reduction, etc.

CERI own six departments, they are Circulating Fluidized-Bed Department, Low-quality Coal Utilization Department, Greengen Department, Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction and Clean Fuel Department, System Design Optimization Department and Renewable Energy Department.
CERI mainly focuses on research of the following aspects:
Nearly zero emission for coal-fired power generation;
Coal gasification and clean coal-based energy conversion;
CO2 capture, utilization and storage;
Large–scale circulating fluidized bed boiler;
Low-quality coal utilization;
Renewable energy power generation;
Design and optimization of energy system;
Shale gas and coal-bed methane development.
CERI have tackled a series of key technologies, and had been authorized 232 granted patents by the state, published 166 papers and achieved 25 provincial science and technology awards so far.
