[China and Monaco]

In 2013, relations between the People's Republic of China and the Principality of Monaco continued to develop steadily.

On 27 September, the Chinese embassy in France held a reception marking the 64th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic. A number of key Monegasque political figures attended the reception, including Counsellor for Internal Affairs Paul Masseron.

Practical cooperation maintained a positive momentum of development. China became Monaco's fourth largest source of import, only next to France, Italy and Germany. People-to-people and cultural exchanges kept growing. In October, the Monte-Carlo Ballet staged grand ballets Romeo and Juliet and LAC (After Swan Lake) in the National Center for the Performance Arts (NCPA). The ballets also opened the 2013 International Dance Festival of the NCPA.

The two countries maintained sound cooperation in international affairs. Monaco supported China in seeking the membership in the UN Committee against Torture.
