Wang Yi Meets with Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Department of Australian Labor Party Penny Wong
On February 7, 2017 local time, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Department of Australian Labor Party Penny Wong at request in Canberra.
Wang Yi noted that performing positive policies towards China and continuously developing China-Australia relations are the consensus of all parties of the Australian administration. Australia is an important country in the Asia-Pacific region. Under the background of current international situation filled with increasing uncertainties, further promoting China-Australia comprehensive strategic partnership conforms to the overall interests of Australia and its people.
Penny Wong expressed that China is very important for the development and prosperity of Australia. No matter which party is in power, the Australian side always hopes to actively develop cooperation with China. Up to now, the Labor Party has always felt proud of making the decision to establish diplomatic relationship with China during its ruling period. The party supports Australia-China free trade agreement and is willing to continuously push forward friendly exchanges between the two countries in all aspects.
