The No.1 unit of a coal-fired power plant in Java, Indonesia, went into operation on Dec. 13, ThePaper.cn reported on Dec. 14.
The installed capacity of the unit is designed at 1050MW. The two-unit project, which was paid for by the China Energy Investment Corporation, is the largest overseas coal-fired plant built by a Chinese enterprise in terms of the installed capacity with Chinese intellectual property.
It is also an environmentally-friendly power plant with the largest installed capacity and highest standards, and has been built using the most advanced technologies in Indonesia.
The project is about 100 kilometers away from the Indonesian capital of Jakarta. With a total investment of 12 billion yuan, the project involves the construction of two 1050MW ultra-supercritical units. The second unit is on the way.
Upon completion, the project is expected to generate 15 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity for the local community each year. The project has paid about $110 million in tax for local tax authorities and helped more than 3,000 people gain employment. During operation, it is expected to generate 40 million US dollars in tax revenue for Indonesia in a year.
China Energy Investment Corporation has three coal-fired power projects in Indonesia with a total installed capacity of 3100MW.
