Cyprus and Norway are ready to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on exchanging know-how relating to energy issues, state-run Cyprus News Agency (CNA) reported on Friday.
The MoU will also include setting up a national fund to manage proceeds from energy sources, CNA said.
The move came after Norway's Foreign Minister Ine Marie Eriksen Soreide, who arrived in Cyprus following a tour of Gulf states, held talks with her Cypriot counterpart.
CNA said the MoU will cover liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering, LNG legislation and sovereign fund management, among others.
A Norwegian company is already taking part in the construction of an LNG facility in Cyprus, in association with Chinese companies.
The meeting between the two foreign ministers was the third in the last six months.
Soreide said her country views Cyprus as "an extremely important partner in the region," because of its role in bridging Europe and the Near East.
