India's federal coal ministry Thursday said it has amended the list of mines to be auctioned for commercial mining.
As per the revised order, 38 blocks would be auctioned instead of previously announced 41.
The revision in the list includes the addition of three blocks Dolesara, Jarekela and Jharpalam-Tangarghat (in Chhattisgarh) and withdrawal of five blocks Morga South, Fatehpur, Madanpur (North), Morga-II and Sayang (in Chhattisgarh).
"Therefore, 38 coal mines are offered for auction for commercial mining under 11th Tranche of Auction under Coal Mines (Special Provisions) Act, 2015 and 1st Tranche of Auction under Mines and Minerals Development Regulation (MMDR) Act, 1957," a statement issued by the coal ministry said.
The ministry, however, has not provided any reason for the revision in the auctioning.
