Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda met with visiting Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg here on Tuesday to discuss bilateral relations and multilateral cooperation, according to a press release from the Presidency.
The two leaders agreed to enhance bilaterally beneficial cooperation in the regional liquefied natural gas (LNG) market to keep it competitive.
Lithuania is a major buyer of Norwegian LNG, which is also supplied to the other countries of the Baltic region through the LNG terminal in the Lithuanian port city of Klaipeda.
Nordic-Baltic cooperation (NB8), border management, regional security and transatlantic cooperation were also on their agenda.
The Norwegian prime minister also met her Lithuanian counterpart, Saulius Skvernelis, to discuss bilateral relations, regional cooperation, economic and energy industry collaboration and other issues of mutual interest, according to the press release.
The two prime ministers agreed to strengthen their countries' renewable energy and environment partnership.
