Uzbekistan is planning to purchase 300 large-capacity all-electric buses for its capital city within three years under a 96 million U.S.-dollar project, according to a draft government resolution released on Thursday.
Uzbekistan has tested such electric buses produced in Belarus and China since last year. The vehicles were low on noise, emissions and operating costs, according to the document.
The country will buy 100 electric buses annually between 2021 and 2023, the document said, adding that the supplier will be determined by tender.
The project will be financed by the Uzbek Industrial and Construction Bank, also known as Uzpromstroybank, it said.
