An Iranian energy official said Monday that his company is ready to raise the levels of its crude oil production to that of pre-sanction era, state TV reported.
The output of National Iranian South Oilfields Company (NISOC) has increased "significantly" over the past months despite U.S. sanctions, NISOC's CEO Ahmad Mohammadi said.
The production in onshore oilfields run by the company in four Iranian provinces in the south and southwest has surged by 30 percent in the past six months as of March 20, Mohammadi said without elaboration on the figures.
NISOC, as a subsidiary of the state-run National Iranian Oil Company, plans to further expand its output by another 10 percent in the current Iranian calendar year starting on March 21, he was quoted as saying.
"If the sanctions are removed, we will swiftly increase the size of our production," he said.
The 2015 Iranian nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), enabled Iran to export more than 2 million barrels of oil before the U.S. unilateral sanctions against Iran in summer of 2018.
