Jordan on Thursday offered a tender for transporting crude oil from Iraq to the Jordan Petroleum Refinery Company.
Under the tender, the winning bidder will transport 10,000 barrels per day (bpd) of crude oil from Iraq to the refinery, which is Jordan's sole refinery located in the Zarqa governorate.
The deadline for technical and financial offers is June 3, the Jordanian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources said in a statement.
In the statement, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Hala Zawati stressed the importance of implementing this project to activate land transport between the two countries, adding it is part of the ministry's plan to enhance Jordan's energy cooperation with neighboring Arab countries.
In 2009, Jordan signed a deal with Iraq under which Jordan buys 10,000 bpd of crude oil from Iraq, transported by land in a back-and-forth trip estimated at about 2,550 km, according to the ministry.
