Indonesia's state-owned electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) is seeking investment in electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in eastern Indonesia as an attempt to boost EV usage in the country.
"We open wide opportunities and invite all parties and business entities to collaborate with us in providing EV charging stations," said Adi Prayitno, PLN Regional Business Director for Sulawesi, Maluku, Papua and Nusa Tenggara, in a written statement released on Tuesday.
On Monday, the PLN inaugurated 10 charging stations in Sulawesi, Maluku, Nusa Tenggara and Papua, planning to build 14 more.
Prayitno said Indonesia will need more than 31,000 new EV charging stations by 2030.
The company has allocated 120 billion rupiahs (8.3 million U.S. dollars) to speed up the construction of EV infrastructures for 2022.
