Visiting Prime Minister of Moldova Natalia Gavrilita on Monday expressed her country's interest in the Azerbaijani market of gas and oil products, electric power and fertilizers.
"Moldova wants to sign contracts on the purchase of energy resources and implement joint projects in energy and agriculture areas," Gavrilita told President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev as she visited Baku.
"Our priority is to increase the sustainability of the energy sector and ensure food security in Moldova," she said during the meeting.
"We count on Azerbaijan's openness for intensification of trade relations and signing of contracts on favorable terms," the Moldovan prime minister said.
Aliyev described energy security as one of the pressing issues on the global agenda.
"We have already worked on these issues. Of course, we will also discuss the ongoing situation, and which work will be done to begin cooperation in these areas," the Azerbaijani leader said.
They discussed other issues of cooperation, and noted the positive dynamics in the bilateral dialogue between Azerbaijan and Moldova.
Aliyev and Gavrilita also stressed the significance of intensifying cooperation, and welcomed the holding of a meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation after a 10-year break.
Gavrilita is on a two-day official visit to Azerbaijan, which also included meetings with the country's prime minister, parliament chair and minister of economy.
She will also attend a joint business forum on Tuesday.
