The Venezuelan government assumed on Thursday the pro tempore presidency of the Latin American Energy Organization (OLADE), which will be headed by the country's Oil Minister Tareck El Aissami.
During the 52nd OLADE Meeting of Ministers, the official stated that Venezuela accepts the responsibility "with a firm commitment to work jointly with all member countries" and seek to strengthen the necessary measures for integration aimed at continental development.
He explained that his administration will seek to "orient its efforts to position OLADE as an organization that defends the importance of renewable and non-renewable energy sources, in order to guarantee the energy security and stability of our peoples."
Regarding the region's vast energy resources, he pointed out that "the development of our countries depends on their rational and efficient use."
El Aissami stressed that these resources must be used "in harmony with the goals set to combat climate change within the framework of a sustainable and gradual energy transition."
OLADE is an intergovernmental platform for technical and political cooperation in energy matters established in 1973, with the purpose of promoting the integration, conservation, use, commercialization and defense of the region's energy resources.
