Indonesian Minister of Energy
and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia said on Monday that the government plans to build solar power plants with a combined capacity of around 80 to 100 gigawatts (GW) nationwide,
and will open opportunities for foreign investors.
"We want to build 1 to 1.5 gigawatts of solar power in each village. So, in the future, we'll build approximately 80 to 100 gigawatts. That is what we discussed technically," Bahlil said.
The minister said that Indonesia's current solar industry capacity is only about 5 GW per year, far below the program's target. Therefore, the government will actively seek foreign investors while fostering close collaboration between national entrepreneurs, state-owned enterprises,
and international partners.
