Laos' Ministry of Agriculture and Environment hosted the Carbon Markets and Clean Energy Conference 2025 to promote carbon market readiness, integrate clean energy technologies, and address investment barriers in the sectors.

The meeting, held here from Wednesday to Thursday, was chaired by Lao Minister of Agriculture and Environment Linkham Douangsavanh, bringing together government officials, development partners, and both local and international private sector representatives, according to a report from the ministry on Thursday.

The conference aimed to foster cooperation on climate change, with a focus on developing Laos' carbon credit market and energy sector. Discussions centered on establishing a carbon credit trading system, sharing best practices for climate adaptation, and identifying policies to strengthen the market.

The conference also highlighted the role of the private sector in addressing investment challenges and securing financial support for carbon and energy projects.

The conference marked a significant step in advancing Laos' carbon credit market and clean energy goals, creating a platform for stakeholders to collaborate on tangible solutions for climate action.
