Latvia and Ukraine agreed on Monday to deepen cooperation in defense technology, energy security and economic development, with the two countries planning to sign a bilateral agreement on drone technologies.
The agreement was announced following talks in Riga between Latvian Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs and visiting Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, who is on a two-day visit to Latvia.
Kulbergs said the discussions focused on expanding cooperation in drone production and facilitating the transfer of Ukrainian technologies to support the development of the sector in both countries.
As part of Latvia's continued support for Ukraine, Kulbergs announced that Latvia will donate a thermal power plant generating unit to help strengthen Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
Svyrydenko said Ukraine stands ready to share its expertise in countering aerial threats by sending specialists to help strengthen Latvia's anti-drone defense capabilities.
The two sides also discussed economic cooperation and Ukraine's preparations for European Union accession.
