The American Petroleum Institute (API) on Tuesday reported an increase of 5.70 million barrels in the U.S. crude oil inventories for the week ending Oct. 26.
The institute reported a buildup of 9.88 million barrels in the oil inventories for the previous week.
Oil prices retreated further on Tuesday as traders awaited the U.S. crude stockpile data scheduled for release Wednesday by the U.S. Ministry of Energy.
The West Texas Intermediate for December delivery decreased 0.86 U.S. dollar to settle at 66.18 dollars a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, while Brent crude for December delivery lost 1.43 dollars to 75.91 dollars a barrel on the London ICE Futures Exchange.
