Cyprus's Minister of Energy, Tourism and Commerce Georgios Lakkotrypis said on Thursday that Lebanon and Cyprus will cooperate in finding markets for their oil and gas produces, local media reported.
"We have agreed with Lebanon to cooperate in finding export markets for our oil and gas produce in addition to implementing a project for creating a gas pipeline between Lebanon and Cyprus," Lakkotrypis was quoted as saying by the National News Agency.
His remarks came during a meeting held in Beirut between delegations from Cyprus and Lebanon to discuss ways of cooperation in the oil and gas sector.
Meanwhile, Lebanese Energy Minister Nada Boustani said that the two countries agreed to cooperate in infrastructure projects related to the transportation of natural gas, in form of pipelines or by means of gas liquefaction facilities.
Lebanon launched its second licensing round for offshore oil and gas exploration in five blocks less than a week ago.
In February 2018, Lebanon signed its first offshore oil and gas exploration and production contracts for two energy blocks with a consortium of France's Total, Italy's Eni and Russia's Novatek.
