Syria's President Bashar al-Assad on Saturday discussed with the visiting Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov the cooperation between both countries including the energy sector, according to the state news agency SANA.
The two sides discussed in the capital Damascus the cooperation between both countries on different levels as well as the agreements signed in the sectors of energy, industry, and trade, the report said.
The Russian side demonstrated the phases of implementing the agreements and the obstacles facing them.
Both sides discussed the obstacles facing the implementation of the agreements as a result of the Western sanctions imposed on Syria in order to expand the field of cooperation to include new sectors.
Borisov also expressed his country's resolve to continue to support Syria until fully restoring security and stability.
The Russian official's visit to Syria comes at a time the Syrian government is having a hard time securing fuel in the country as a result of the tightened U.S. sanctions on Syria.
