Afghanistan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Wednesday inaugurated the first ever solar power network in the country during his visit to the southern Kandahar province, said a statement of Presidential Palace.
In his opening remarks, the president noted that the 30-million-U.S.-dollar project could produce 30 megawatts of electricity, helping boost agriculture and industries in the province.
The president said the government would continue to protect and support the private sector in the country.
