The World Heavy Oil Congress and Exhibition on Monday kicked off in Oman's capital city Muscat with the participation of more than 500 participants from 31 countries.
The event, hosted by the Oman Petroleum Development Company, aims to discuss ways to enhance international cooperation to develop the heavy oil sector.
Director General of Planning and Studies of the Omani Ministry of Oil and Gas, Saleh bin Ali Al-Anbouri, said this is the second time Oman holds the conference, adding that it aims to raise efficiency in extracting heavy oil, reduce the volume of emissions that harm the environment and reduce the operating costs of heavy oil.
