The 24th World Energy Congress (WEC) kicked off in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), on Monday, gathering participants from around 150 countries and regions to explore new energy, critical innovation and new strategies.
Under the theme "Energy for Prosperity", the congress presents a four-day interactive program designed to address the most critical issues facing the global energy industry.
Inan opening speech, Younghoon David Kim, chair of the WEC, noted the importance of "trailblazing" technologies and building a sustainable energy future, supported by public policies that empower future generations.
UAE Minister of State Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber reaffirmed the commitment of the UAE to maintaining and promoting a fully diversified energy mix and remaining a reliable supplier to global energy markets.
